Have you ever bought a new crafting product, only to have it sit in your stash for ages before finally using it? I admit it has happened to me many times. Sometimes a new product feels a little intimidating, I just can't think of an inspiring way to use it, or it's simply so beautiful and precious—whether it's a patterned paper, washi tape, or a new pen—that I don't want to use it right away.
This layout was a happy exception! The new Sizzix / Tim Holtz Thinlits Blossom Die set I picked up at the Craftaamo craft event went straight into use for this project. Woohoo!
The die-cut floral designs on the back of the page are quite large, but the distressed look of the paper worked really well with oversized embellishments. To keep the flowers from becoming too dominant, I left out one of the die-cut layers. I actually prefer them this way—they look a little simpler and, to my eye, even more beautiful.
The color palette of this layout is very earthy, and I absolutely love these shades of yellow and brown. The background itself is finished with just a little white gesso and some stenciled texture. I also managed to use up some old alphabet stickers from my stash, which always feels like a little victory!
