Underwater beauty

Hi and happy Wednesday,
Today I wanted to show you a tag project I made with Visible Image 'Dare To Swim' stamp set and Distress Inks. The base of my project was a white size 8 tag that had a nice bit glossy finish. Just perfect for some creative play with stamping and inking!

I started the project by stamping and heat embossing the jellyfish on the tag. Then I inked the entire tag with a few blue and green Distress inks and stamped the seagrass and fish school images with StazOn on top.
I wanted to highlight the beautiful jellyfish and the air bubbles by removing the ink from those. For that I used bleach: I took a Fantastix colouring/painting tool (a small brush would have done, too), dipped the top of it into bleach, and painted over the areas I wanted to remove the ink from. After waiting a few seconds I saw the magic happening: the bleached spots started turning white!

When working with bleach you need to choose a stamping ink that tolerates the strong liquid. The technique works well with heat embossed images, and also StazOn allows you to paint over it without dissolving the stamped image. If you have not yet tried this technique I suggest you give it a try; I'm sure you'll love it!

I removed the ink also from the seagrass, and re-colored the leaves with green ProMarkers. Also the jellyfish got back some colour and shadowing from my markers, as well as the tiny fish on top of the tag.

Before gluing down the stamped quote words I misted the entire tag gently with plain water. Loved the tiny bubble patterns it created!

Hope you like my tag!

Sparkling cards

Hi and happy Wednesday,

Today I'm sharing with you two cards I made using two lovely quote stamps by Visible Image:

I wanted the quote to be the main focus of the card, so I kept the other embellishments to minimum. For the background I used soft pink liquid watercolor that I applied in several layers, drying each layer with my heat gun before applying the next layer of water and/or colour.

Once the background was ready I stamped the quote. The 'Smile Sparkle Shine' text I created some highlights with an embossing pen, added gold embossing powder, and heat set the powder with my heat gun.

Usually I decorate the watercoloured background with some pattern stamping, but this time I wanted to add more golden shimmer. I sprinkled a bit of the same embossing powder around the stamped quote, and heat set the powder by heating it from underneath. Blowing it from top would have blown the powder away as it was loose on the paper.

The only decoration element was a simple die-cut frame I covered with embroidery yarn. Wrapping the yarn around the paper frame took a while, but I just love the end result! Once the entire frame was covered I glued the frame on the card front.

These cards were really simple and fun to make. Hope they inspire you, too!

Card for May TIMI: Fabulous girls

Hi!
May Craft Stamper Take It Make It challenge started a week ago, but there's still plenty of time to enter. "Anything goes", as long as you use stamping somewhere on your project.
If you're looking for project inspiration I suggest you have a look at the list of gorgeous colourful entries that have already been linked to the challenge. Just follow *this link*!

For my May inspiration card I used another stamp by Art Impressions. I just love them! This time the gorgeous girls enjoyed a sunny day at the beach:

The main image is built from stamped and coloured layers:

First I stamped the image on white paper, and coloured the skin tones with my Promarers. Also the wine glas got some red on it.

Then I started working on the beach chairs. I stamped the same image on a piece of red cardstock, cut out the tiny chair pieces, and glued on top of the stamped image.

Then I used the marker pens again for colouring the girls' hairs. I stamped the swimsuits, earrings and hats on coloured leftover paper pieces, cut out with my crafting knife, and glued the pieces on the stamped image.

Once the glue was dry I added some shadows on the swimsuits.

There were many tiny pieces to cut and glue, but maybe the most challenging part was to fussy cut the entire main image. Especially the chairs had many truly detailed and thin parts!

For the beach background I used pieces of brown, yellow and blue papers. Before gluing down the main image I created some white clouds on the background sky with white acrylic paint. Once the glue was dry I added some shading on the sand, again using my Promarkers.

Aren't the girls just fabulous!

Such a fun card project to make!

I wish you a wonderful weekend. Happy crafting!

Mother's day card with soft pastel tones

Hi!
Mother's day is soon here, and this year my mother will receive a spring themed card with soft pastel tones:

For this card I used some leftover cardstock pieces in pink, kraft, and mint. I stamped the image a few times, cut the pieces out, and re-assembled the image on my card front.

I hope she'll like the card!

Friends for life!

Hi,
It's the first Friday of May which means that a new Craft Stamper Take It Make It challenge has started. Again, 'anything goes', so entering is very easy. Just have a quick look into the challenge guidelines and get crafty!
One lucky winner will get this wonderful set of stamps from our generous sponsor, Imagine Design Create:

My take on the May challenge is a friendship themed stamped card:

It's a thank you card for my friend, who is hosting a get-together evening in a few weeks time. It's going to be an evening filled with laughter and joy; we're a group of four women who have been really close friends since early childhood years. We're truly friends for life, and I'm so much looking forward to that evening together!

The background for this card is stamped and coloured with watercolours.
Main image is from Art Impressions 'Girlfriends' collection (Picture Perfect), coloured with Promarkers.

I'm wishing you a nice weekend. Thanks for stopping by!

Love Deeper: Three cards

Hi and Happy Wednesday!
This month Visible Image started a new series of monthly challenges in their Facebook group. Playing along is easy; get inspired by the monthly theme, take out your Visible Image stamps and start creating! Upload your project to the May challenge album, and you might be the lucky winner of a £40 gift card in Visible Image online store! How cool is that!

May theme is 'Express Yourself'

My take on the May challenge is a set of three cards:

For all these three cards I used my favourite quote stamp, 'Laugh Louder'. The basic design is somewhat similar on these cards, but I used the same stamp in 3 different way.

On this first card I stamped the quote with black ink on a red Distress Paint coloured background. The lovely red texture did not require too many other elements to be added, so I just placed two die-cut flower stems on the sides.

On the second card the quote is stamped with two inks. I did not use any masking, but applied the ink on each word using a small ink pad (Tsukineko Memento Dew Drops). There's just enough distance between the words so you can ink each line separately without mixing the colours.

The third card is a small ATC. I wanted to use only the last two lines of the quote, so I masked the above lines with a post-it note before stamping. The background is a leftover piece from my first card.

I hope you get inspired to play along. Many of the Visible Image quotes are just perfect for this month's theme, and I guess the most difficult part will be the choosing between your favourites!
