Scrapbooking layout: Look at this

Hi!

The starting point for this layout was the inspiring patterned paper by Mima Molina (AB Studio's Cream Collection). I love her signature grungy style!

I wanted to add more texture to the page background, so I adhered a piece of torn mesh fabric to the page. I left the loose white threads visible, allowing them to become part of the layout's design.

I often embellish my layouts with flowers, leaves, or ready-made chipboard embellishments. This time, however, I decided to do something a little different and use stamped images instead. Aren't these Pocket Circles stamps designed by Dina Wakley for Ranger absolutely amazing? I stamped the images onto two-toned patterned cardstock, which added just the right amount of color to the layout without having to color the stamped images. The shades of blue and grey also complemented the simple color palette of the photo nicely.

To tie everything together, I added a little more of the dark blue (matching the color of my top in the photo) by cutting random organic shapes from solid cardstock. Their style echoes the black patterns on the background paper.

To continue the layout's grungy theme, I cut the circles out by hand with scissors and didn't even try to make the edges perfectly neat. I wanted them to have that handmade look, which fits the style of the layout perfectly.

The typewritten quotes were cut from Dina Wakley's Typed Ledgers collage sheets.

Even though this layout has lots of layers and plenty of details, I think it still feels balanced. The limited color palette and the repeated circular shapes help create a calm and cohesive look.

I hope this layout inspires you to combine different patterns, textures, and embellishments in your own projects—it's such a fun way to be creative!
