This scrapbook layout came together quite quickly and was a pleasure to make from start to finish. I combined the photo with a gorgeous teal-blue patterned paper from 49 and Market and finished the page with blue die-cut flowers. The flowers were created with ModaScrap's Happy Flowers die set—one of my all-time favorite dies and one that I find myself using again and again.
This layout, Happy Day, is inspired by art and the joy it brings. For the past several summers, we've made a point of visiting the Purkutaide (Demolition Art) exhibition, which has become one of our favorite cultural experiences. Each exhibition is created inside an abandoned building—usually one that's awaiting demolition—and every invited artist transforms an entire room or section of the building into a unique work of art.
Visitors can usually step inside the installations, and many of the artworks incorporate sound, video, or other interactive elements. The exhibitions often explore thought-provoking social issues, making the experience both visually inspiring and emotionally powerful.
The 2024 exhibition was held just outside Helsinki, in Kerava, inside a large department store that had stood empty for years. It was especially nostalgic for me, as I used to shop there when I lived in the area. Every Purkutaide exhibition I've visited has been an incredibly immersive experience, and I always leave feeling inspired. In fact, I visited this summer's exhibition just last week!
