Many gorgeous entries have been linked to November Take It Make It challenge (view them all here). Looking at the vibrant collection of stamped projects really gets my inspirational juices flowing-- I think I need to continue playing with my stamps tonight!

Before that I wanted to stop by to show you my latest stamped project I made for TIMI challenge:

Tässä toinen haasteeseen tekemäni työ, jossa keltainen leikkiauto sai uuden elämän pienessä sisustustaulussa:


  
Last weekend my son was going through his toy cars, and putting aside some that he thought he would not play with anymore. One of those cars was a yellow taxi, and I immediately remembered my new 'Sketchy Cities America' stamp set by Altenew. The yellow 'HotWheels' toy car had lots of decoration on it, but I removed them with nail polish. I thought my NYC yellow taxi should not be covered with hotrod style flames :D

Viime viikonloppuna kävimme läpi vanhoja leluja, joilla ei enää oltu leikitty pitkään aikaan. Otin tämän keltaisen auton itselleni, sillä ajattelin, että se sopisi täydellisesti yhteen uuden Altenew Sketchy Cities America -leimasinsettini kuvan kanssa. HotWheels-auton kyljet oli koristeltu hotrod-tyyliin lieskakuvioilla, mutta ne lähtivät helposti pois kynsilakanpoistoaineella. Pelkkä keltainen sopi tähän tarkoitukseen paljon paremmin!



I started the project with stamping the NYC skyline on white cardstock. For this I used black Archival Ink that easily gives a crispy image, and once heat set on the (semi) glossy cardstock it does not bleed over water-based Distress inks.
For background coloring I used yellow, orange and red Distress inks. The original idea was to keep the background as simple as possible, but I could not resist splashing water on the inked surface. I love that technique!

 Aloitin leimaamalla kaupungin silhuetin valkoiselle kartongille mustaa Archival Ink -mustetta käyttäen. Koska kartongin pinta oli hieman kiiltävä, kiinnitin musteen kuumailmapuhaltimella. Tämän jälkeen saattoi taustan värjätä huoletta vesiliukoisella Distress-musteella ilman pelkoa kuvan suttaantumisesta.
Ennen seuraavaan vaiheeseen siirtymistä roiskin hieman vettä mustepinnan päälle, jolloin sain pintaan hieman elävyyttä. Miten helppo tekniikka koristella tällaisia väripintoja!



Then I stamped the image repeatedly on white cardstock. This time I used black Distress as my ink, as I was going to colour the image with alcohol markers. A general rule of thumb is: when colouring with water soluable markers, stamp the image with dye ink, and when using alcohol markers, use water soluable ink for your image. Then you don't need to be too careful when colouring, your image lines will not bleed.

Leimasin kaupunkikuvion muutamaan kertaan valkoiselle kartongille, sillä tavoitteenani oli tehdä kaupunkitaustasta kerroksellinen ja siten hieman kolmiulotteinen. Värittämiseen käytin alkoholitusseja, jolloin valitsin leimasinmusteeksi vesiliukoisen mustan Distress-musteen. 


Then, starting from the buildings on the back, I chose a few that would make my first layer of the stacked background. I coloured them, cut them out, leaving them attached to the bottom of the image. Then I glued them on the inked card background.

Aloitin kerrosten rakentamisen kuvan taaimpana olevista rakennuksista. Valitsin näistä muutaman, väritin ne, ja leikkasin ääriviivoja myöten irti. Kuvien kohdistamisen helpottamiseksi jätin irti leikattuun kuvaan myös osan alaosaa - nämä peittyisivät kuitenkin seuraaviin kerroksiin. Liimasin pohjakerroksen kiinni värjättyyn taustaan.

On the second layer I cut out those buildings I had coloured on the first layer, and again chose a few more buildings for the second layer. Coloured them, cut the skyline out, and attached to the background with 3D foam tape.

Seuraavassa kerroksessa poistin kuvasta ne rakennukset, jotka jo olivat kiinni taustassa. Valitsin jälleen muutaman rakennuksen, väritin ne, leikkasin irti ja kiinnitin taustaan kohotarrapaloilla.


The third layer contained all the buildings in the front row, and once they were coloured and cut, I attached that layer again with 3D tape on top of the previous layers.
Then I placed my NYC skyline in a black wooden frame (size 6" x 4").

Kolmannessa kerroksessa jatkoin samaan tapaan - poistin toisen kerroksen rakennukset kuvasta ja väritin eturivin rakennukset. Leikkasin irti ja kiinnitin kuvan päälle kohotarrapaloilla.
Valmiin työn sijoitin 10x15 cm kokoiseen valokuvakehykseen.


For attaching the yellow taxi on the frame I used heavy gel medium. 

Keltainen taksi on kiinnitetty taustaan ja kehykseen gel mediumilla. Toki muukin vahva askarteluliima olisi käynyt tähän hyvin.


Done! I think I was able to turn my project vision into a fun home decór element quite well!

Valmista tuli! Pienestä sisustustaulusta tuli juuri sellainen, kuin olin toivonutkin!
