Art journal page with stamping and watercoloring

Happy Sunday to You,

I love playing with watercolors!
When creating watercolor backgrounds I often start by brushing plenty of water on the watercolor paper. Starting with the light colours I add color on the wet paper, and use my heat gun to push the watercolors around the paper. When the paper is dry I repeat the steps with darker shades or different colors. For that technique any type of watercolor can be used, but the cheap ones tend to crumble and break when dried to thicker color layers. Liquid watercolors often work better.

The fun thing is that you cannot completely control the flow of colors as they like to take their own paths. And that's what makes the creative process so enjoyable and exciting!

Many of my recent projects have some watercolored elements, so for me the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge had the perfect theme this week: 'Wonderful Watercolor'. Here's my Monday Challenge inspired art journal page:

The stamps are from two Dina Wakley sets; 'Scribbly Women' and 'Face in the Crowd'. I stamped them on watercolor paper with VersaMark, and heat embossed the images with black embossing powder.

Before gluing down the images I stamped some more patterns, and added blue, green and yellow sewing yarn on the background.

White chains are punched from leftover watercolour paper using EK Success paper punch.

This art journal page makes me so happy. Love the grungy woman images and the bright colours!

Wishing you a colourful and inspirational day,

Hugs,
