Card for MMCC September challenge: Life games

Hi,
A new month has started which means that it's time for a new Mixed Media Card Challenge!

Autumn is my favorite time of the year.  Don't get me wrong; I do love the warm summer days (who wouldn't, LOL!), but when we move on to September and October, that's when all the colors really pop. All the bright colors, and the various shades of yellow, red, orange, brown, and green make me so happy!

The MMCC September challenge is all about these gorgeous autumn colors: Your task is to make a mixed media card using the autumn color palette. As optional element we suggest you use metal or leaves in your project, but if you wish to ignore this challenge twist, that's totally fine, too.

For the background of my September MMCC card I used simple white heavy office cardstock I inked with different shades of yellow, orange, red, brown, and green Distress inks. After inking I splased water on the inked surface for crating some additional texture. After drying with a heat gun I added some more ink (the splashes appeared too white to my taste), and stenciled a few letters and numbers with brown ink. I love playing with my favorite techniques!

I continued decorating the background first with stamping (black Archival ink and stamps by Prima Marketing) and then with heat embossing; I used light yellow embossing powder and a medallion stamp by Stampendous

The main item by Paper Artsy is a recent purchase of mine - I came across these grungy designs in a local crafting store, and I have to say that it was love at first sight :). I stamped the image on white heavy office paper, painted with watercolors, and inked the edges. Aren't these four ladies with their party hats so cool!
The sentiment text stamp is from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anynomous collection.

I finished the card with inking the edges with Versamark embossing ink and sprinkling some Distress Powder on the edges. This Distress embossing powder is not designed to give a smooth and precise finish, but a sandy, grungy, and rusty coating.Love it!

I suggest you hop over to Mixed Media Card Challenge blog to view more inspirational autumn colored mixed media cards. Then grab your crafting supplies and play along! Our lovely sponsor for September is Add a little Dazzle - the winner will receive a $15 gift certificate in the Add a little Dazzle store!

I wish you a nice and inspiring week.
Love,
