On Saturday evening of Scraptastic all event participants attended a workshop by Donna Downey. The course material included two identical canvas sheets and the first task was to tear them into 2-3 cm wide strips. Then, we woved the strips back to a 12" page; now the layout had a wonderful patterned background!
As embellishments we used Prima felt branches and flowers and a paper tag with iron-on journaling.
I had not used any 12x12" canvas sheets before and was really intrigued
by this technique. Making the layout was so much fun, and finishing the
layout did not take even 2 hours!

Lauantai-iltana järjestettiin koko Scraptastic-porukalle Donna Downeyn vetämä kurssi. Osallistujia oli valtavasti, mutta hämmästykseksemme kurssijärjestelyt toimivat erittäin hyvin. Kurssipakissa oli kaksi samanlaista canvas-arkkia, jotka revittiin reilun 2 sentin levyisiksi suikaleiksi, toinen vaakasuuntaan ja toinen pystysuuntaan. Uskotteko, että huoneen äänimaailma on aika huikea, kun satakunta skräppääjää repii kangasta posket innosta hehkuen!
Suikaleista pujoteltiin ruudukko, johon alkuperäinen kuvio muodostui hieman muuntuneena. Pohjan sydänkuvio vahvistettiin leimaamalla se uudelleen punaisella akryylimaalilla. Valokuvan lisäksi sivuun käytettiin huopa- ja kangaskoristeita sekä pahvitagiin silitetty siirtokuvateksti. Valmista syntyi suurella ilolla reilussa puolessatoista tunnissa!

It's always wonderful to try a completely new technique. Workshops often introduce materials, mediums and techniques you would not have encountered otherwise!
