April Craft Stamper TIMI Challenge: Robot card

Hi and Happy Easter!
Craft Stamper April Take It Make It challenge is ongoing, but there's still plenty of time to enter. Our lovely sponsor Visible Image has put up a prize truly worth playing for, so I suggest you take out your stamps and get crafty!
All challenge details can be viewed here, and more inspiration from our talented DT is here. Amazing projects, aren't they!

My second take on the April challenge is a card that my son asked me to make for his friend's birthday:

The background was inked with yellow and brown Distress inks; first I created a grid mask on the background with masking tape. My tape was really sticky, so for making the tape bit less sticky I dabbed the strips on a kitchen towel before placing on the card. That way I was able to remove the strips easier without worrying about tearing the card front.

First I used a brownk ink (Vintage Photo), then removed the strips, and inked the white areas with yellow colour (Dried Marigold). When finished I plashed water on the inked surface and stamped black text patterns here and there. My coloured image did not have too much white on it, so I added white paper strips on the background; a little bit of white and/or black always make your colours pop!

For colouring the image I used my Promarkers (they just work the best for me). As last finishing touch I glued down the robot eyes, two small washers :)

The card was approved by my son, hope you like it too!

Thanks for stopping by,
Hugs,
