A new Craft Stamper Take It Make It challenge was kicked off last Friday. February is a 'Take A Technique' month at TIMI, and our theme is: TEXT ME!
In other words, in February TIMI we are challenging you to use text or script background stamps, or text paper in your projects. Any language, any style. Old book pages, bits torn from magazines, scrapbooking papers- whatever you can find! Please remember that the 'text' part does not include sentiments, phrase or single word stamps.... think backgrounds!
Again we have a wonderful sponsor for our challenge: A Sprinkle Of Imagination
One lucky winner will get a £25.00 gift voucher to their fabulous online shop. Amazing prize really worth playing for!
Here's my take:
For the background I used a leftover piece of dark grey cardstock I had stamped with letter stickers and white acrylic paint. The background looked bit too busy, so I painted it with pink Dylysions paint. I love working with that media; it is easy to apply, and a thin layer stays beautifully translucent.
The branch is die-cut from an old book page. Before cutting I taped the page on a thin piece of cardstock which made the branch easier to glue down and to work with.
The branch die is one of my most used Sizzix dies, Garden Greens by Tim Holtz.
The text on the die-cut branch is muted down with gesso. Once dry I added bit of shading on the edges using a grey watercolour crayon.
Little purple flowers are punched with a small Stampin'Up punch. Sentiment text stamp is from Altenew.
Before gluing down the card on a folded card base I framed the card front with a black marker, and following the marker line I sew around the edges a few times with my sewing machine.
Our lovely sponsor A Sprinkle Of Imagination has also offered all Craft Stamper Take It Make It friends and Craft Stamper Magazine blog readers a nice discount: During February 5-25th you will receive a 10% discount in the shop (minimum £5 spend, excluding P&P).
