Travel stories - Matkakertomuksia: ProzART

Tapahtuma kuulosti melkein liian hyvältä ollakseen totta.

Last February we participated in Finnabair's mixed media workshop in Stockholm. After classes Ania told us that they were preparing a bit different kind of scrapbooking event in Poland for summer 2013. She described the event as a 'Creative Escape': A long weekend, during which the main goal would be to relax and unwind, surrounded by beautiful nature, to enjoy the easygoing atmosphere, to let the creativity run wild, to escape from restraining self-criticism and to scrap with top teachers. The aim was not to make the weekend a great mass event, but a warm, small group gathering.

The event description sounded almost too good to be true. When the first announcements of the event were published in the spring, I enrolled right away. I simply had to participate!

The event took place in Czempiń; a city with a population of 5000 in Western Poland (approx. 1 hour drive from Poznan). We stayed at a Polish Hunting Research Center (Stacja Badawcza Polskiego Związku Łowieckiego), where all key activities were nicely in one location. Our Thursday travel to Czempiń had some minor hick-ups: Lady selling the train tickets spoke only Polish, the train station track info almost took us to the wrong track at the time of the train departure, the Warsaw-Berlin express train had some technical issues and after 1,5 our train had moved maybe 5 kilometers, and the whole group of ladies sharing the same minibus to Czempiń had to wait over an hour for us... However, I have to say that I love to travel with Minna: She's perfect companion, always positive, and does not panic over such minor speed bumps. Little incidents just make the whole journey more interesting!

In the event there were almost 30 participants from which the majority were from Poland. In addition there were scrapbookers from Norway, Romania, Israel and Finland (yes, Linda, I'm counting you in the Team Finland, even if you are currently living in UK). Quite an international group, wasn't it!

I have participated in several scrapbooking events in Finland and abroad. Every event has been special in its' own way, and every time I have returned home with lots of ideas and inspiration. However, thextremely warm and heartfelt atmosphere of this event was something that I had not experienced before. We felt very welcome and were welcomed to the group with open arms. I'm so very happy about my new friends I got to know over the weekend!

The organizers had spent a huge amount of time on planning and arranging the little details for our long weekend. We were amazed by the many little personalized notes, inspiring decoration, carefully planned schedule, and fun and inspiring assignments. Ewa, Eliza, Ania, Karola, and Kasia: Thank you for making this weekend so very special!

Kivaa!

Over the weekend we had three workshops and plenty of time for our own work and for little challenge projects. In addition we had a group challenge in which we our team of four made a collage canvas in just half an hour. What a great challenge!

Uskomatonta!

Our Friday schedule included something very special: Each of us got a half an hour long photo session with talented photographer Marcin Ratajczak! And from this session everyone got a cd with over 20 photos to take home. Three B&W photos were given to us as paper copies, and we used those three on our workshop projects. I guess Marcin did not get too many hours of sleep on Friday-Saturday night as he had to go through hundreds of photos and prepare the photo cd's and prints for almost 30 participants. Quite an achievement!

On our last night it was time to put our patterned papers aside for a while and just spend time together. We all gathered around a bonfire for a nice barbeque - enjoying the dinner buffet the catering company had made for us. We played games, chatted, and sang songs together - I had the time of my life!

Lämpimät kiitokset järjestäjille ja uusille ystävilleni - teitte ProzARTista aivan erityisen tapahtuman. Tapaammehan ensi vuonna uudelleen?

Warm thanks to our organizers and all my new friends who made my ProzART weekend very special. We meet again next year, right?

    1. Kyllä, matka antoi todella paljon. Viikonlopun aikataulu oli sopivan väljä, joten päivät eivät menneet kellon vahtimiseen ja kurssilta toiseen juoksemiseen.
Toki valmistakin tuli - tuon töitä näytille tänne blogiini ensi viikolla.

      Aurinkoa sunnuntaihisi!
